Born in Paris in 1950, Michel Rawicki discovered his two great passions at the age of 10 : photography, thanks to the "Kodak Flash Star" with its pin based-bulb, and the ice, during a first trip with his parents in the Chamonix valley. First he was a trainee at "Films 12" with Claude Lelouch in 1969, he then became a full-time professional photographer in a studio. In 1988, he founded the agency "StockImage", which became one of the first independent image database. In 1993, the discovery of Greenland and its icebergs changed its photographic career. After the world of ice, he got naturally closer to the humans and the wildlife that inhabit it, a rough world that reduces the living being to the basics, to the simple struggle for life. It is there that he made his first encounter with the polar bear, which will not cease to inhabit his many trips. Lecturer, he is a member of the Société de Géographie and the Société des explorateurs français.
