This work is a collective work of local artists who work or live in the heart of the territory of the vast Ramsar zone of metropolitan France of the wet Champagne ponds. Each artist of this collective exhibition (Stéphane Hette, Pascal Bourguignon and Jean Chevalier) highlights this territory on their own : Pascal Bourguignon, sitting in his paramotor, has been observing the landscape for more than 20 years in a global way by taking aerial shots but also by hiding on the shores of lakes and ponds. Stéphane Hette is approaching this nature in the detail of a dragonfly or the fruit of a flower. Jean CHEVALIER, with his environmental illustrations, synthesizes the approaches and, through his impromptu drawings, perfectly describes the atmosphere of the places, the life of the inhabitants and their relationship to this very special territory, composed of water, clay land and century-old forests.

Exposition

The exhibition "Ramsar: ponds of the wet Champagne" is the result of the will of the actors of this territory, to show to a wide public the environmental and human wealth of this little-known site. The exhibition was created  by the "EPTB Seine Grands Lacs", owner and manager of 10,000 hectares of lakes of the area (Lac du Der, Lac du Temple, Lac de la Forêt d'Orient) and the Parc naturel régional de la Forêt d'Orient, and illustrated by renowned local artists: Pascal BOURGUIGNON, Stéphane HETTE, Jean CHEVALIER. It offers, through 40 panels, including 20 in XL size, the exceptional natural wealth of this vast territory, 8 times the size of Paris, and the inhabitants who know, for generations, how to develop it while preserving it (fish farmer, tile maker, forester...). This exhibition also presents the wetland species that develop in other Ramsar sites in the Grand Est region (Petite Woëvre, Étang des Lindre, Vallée du Rhin). This exhibition is the result of a collaborative work between public, private and financial structures (Région Grand Est, Agence de l'eau Seine Normandie, EPTB Seine Grands Lacs).
