]Michel Denis-Huot has always been passionate about nature and has fallen under the spell of the large wilderness of East Africa since his first trip in Kenya in 1973 when he was 20. Since then, he has spent several months a year in the bush, mainly in the heart of Masaï-Mara, where he observes and photographs African wildlife and its environment with Christine whom he met in Tanzania in 1985. He is a privileged witness to the beauty and fragility of nature, he explores the savannah and the different ecosystems of Kenya in complete freedom aboard his Land-Rover, which suffered greatly from the last trip in 2020 until the Logipi lake, in the desert area around the Turkana lake! For Michel, photography is not only a profession, it is above all the expression of a deep link to nature and freedom… His images are made with CANON or FUJI equipment, of which Michel became one of the Ambassadors in 2015. These photos give us a passionate and attentive perspective about the animals of the savannah but also the grandiose expanses of the Rift fault and its incredible treasure. Michel has added a drone, a Mavic pro 2, to his photography kit, and he loves to «play» with this new tool that has become indispensable in his quest for new images…
Exposition
Michel Denis-Huot presents in this exhibition an another Kenya, that of the alkaline lakes of the Rift fault, where the pink color is predominant. That of the vast expanses of soda which often take extraordinary tones, that of the flamingos attracted by these very particular ecosystems. These seemingly environments hostile to life turn out to be a fabulous reservoir of life and beauty. The use of a drone highlights these extraordinary landscapes. Flamingo colonies have been photographed from north to south of the Kenyan Rift over the past 20 years, on lakes Logipi, Bogoria, Nakuru, Elementeita, and Magadi.
