Solenne MULLER & Simon BUGNON
France
Photographs
“The Eye of the River” is the shared version of photographer Simon BUGNON and nature artist Solenne MULLER.
Simon explores the Ardèche valleys in search of wonder and images -gifts that reaweaken and rewild our gaze upon the world. Author of numerous photographic works and books, his eye is often drawn to the details of the natural world that harbour unsuspected magic.
Naturalist, artist, author, and herpetologist, Solenne MULLER tells the story of wildlife through a range of creative techniques that blur the boundaries between science, emotion, and poetry. She gives voice to amphibians through engraving and writing, in close dialogue with photography.
Exposition
Combining photography, poetic narrative, and engraving, the exhibition reveals a river through the eyes of one of its wild inhabitants.
By taking on the point of view of a yellow-bellied toad, the artists invite us to embark on a sensorial journey between land and water, between wavelets and moss. With its heart-shaped pupil, the small amphibian becomes a symbol of the urgent need to cast a loving gaze at the living world.
All photographs on display are drawn from the musical performance “L’œil de la rivière”, created by the same artists, and also presented during this festival.
