Le lièvre invisible

Once upon a time a snow-white hare that lived very close to the clouds, among the highest alpine peaks. Few privileged people have had the chance to observe it : perfectly matched to its environment, nocturnal, silent and almost invisible, the mountain hare betrays its presence only by its poops and its footprints in the powder. To go unnoticed, this master of camouflage changes the color of his coat over the seasons becoming gray-brown in summer and white in winter. We discover that behind this animal is hidden a mythical species of a remote era. From northern origins, the white hare is indeed a survivor who arrived in our latitudes during the advance of the quaternary glaciers and who remained trapped in the Alps at the end of the last glaciation. Unfortunately, climate change is straining its survival in our mountains. This exceptional exhibition honours the white hare by revealing all the unusual aspects of this highly photogenic mammal and its endearing destiny.
