“To freeze the fleeting perfections, to capture the elusive, as a call to love to better protect our nature and to get closer to the essential”, this is what Stéphanie and David Allemand wish to testify through their images for nearly twenty years. From close-up photographs to distant escapes, this professional couple regularly publishes their reports in the European press. David’s photos have won prizes in numerous international competitions, while Stéphanie devotes herself to writing. They share their knowledge by organising photographic trips in France and Europe. They choose to be accompanied by professionals (ornithologists, park rangers, mountain guides…). As ambassadors of “Nature First” in France, “the Alliance for responsible nature photography”, they are indeed concerned with respecting the environment. They also participate in various educational and naturalist projects in partnership with Regional and National Nature Parks. In 2013, they published the book “Verdon, d’autres visages” (Verdon, other faces), the result of many years of exploration in this territory. In 2017, a project lasting more than ten years revealed their encounters with the thirteen species of owls of Europe in a beautiful book “Owls”. They remain particularly sensitive to the soft and fairy lights of the northern countries. A true ode to these horizons and to life, their next book, “Chemins du nord”, is a collection of velvety visions, an invitation to suspend time.

Exposition

From Scandinavia to the farthest reaches of the Arctic, Stéphanie and David have travelled for several years in these wide open spaces, passing through Iceland and Greenland, discovering at the turn of each path a plural and contrasted boreal universe, where the taiga gives way to the tundra, and the volcanoes to the ice. Here, a mysterious Great Gray Owl can be seen behind every tree; further on, a Brown Bear advances in a misty atmosphere; elsewhere, a Polar Fox roams the original lands while a puffin looms on the horizon; over there, walruses lounge on the Arctic beaches and the Polar Bear imposes himself as the Lord of the Ice… “May our most beautiful encounters be humble testimonies of the fragile beauty of a shared land, and our chimerical visions inspire the desire to protect it.
