Through my photographs, I aim to reveal the beauty and richness of the Iroise Sea.
My journey into photography began with a desire to learn more about the species around us. At first, the camera was simply a tool for my nature studies.
As a native of Brest, I am fascinated by the intertidal zone’s wildlife (molluscs, crustaceans, etc.) that can be discovered at low tide. My schedule is often dictated by the tide times. Every outing provides observations that I pass on to scientists to improve our understanding and protection of these fragile marine habitats. For the past 12 years, I have been fascinated by these elusive wild neighbours. I am committed to sharing the beauty of these creatures and their ingenuity.
Exposition
In Brittany, the sea recedes twice a day, revealing a fascinating world. At low tide, crabs, shellfish, slugs and other colourful creatures face the temporary absence of the sea. They then employ astonishing coping strategies that inspire respect and wonder. Conversely, when the tide comes in, the ocean reminds us of our place as land-dwellers, utterly incapable of such feats ourselves. It puts us firmly in our place. It is then time to return to dry land, watching as the sea covers this incredible landscape.
