I am a self-taught tracker and wildlife photographer, dedicating most of my time to large predators. After fifteen years tracking the Eurasian lynx, and later the Amur tiger, I am now following the cougars, in the Canadian Rockies. Tracking is at the heart of my work: alone in the field, I learn to read the signs and understand the animal’s rhythm and its territory. My images and stories emerge from this patient immersion. I take my time, convinced that time is the best ally of respect, and respect the best ally of the naturalist.
Exposition
The exhibition I am presenting here is taken from my book PUMA, Ghost of the Rockies. It offers a selection of images, the result of three winters of solitary tracking. The book unfolds in two movements. In the first part, the images speak for themselves, without words, leaving room for raw vision, light, and my perspective on the puma. In the second, the narrative takes over. I share my personal experience, reflections on animal perception, and our connection with the living world. A sensory and philosophical journey to approach, if only a little, the world of these great predators.
Key figures:
180 days in the field, over three winters
More than 2000 kilometers traveled on foot
Hundreds of kilometers of puma tracks followed
More than 40 different trails
Hundreds of hours spent in hides
