Olivier LARREY and Éric LE GO are both professional photographers. For many years now, they have been developing their knowledge of icy lands, in the form of books, exhibitions and documentary films.
Olivier prefers black and white photography. Wildlife is his favourite subject. As a Leica ambassador, he regularly travels to the polar regions, and more recently to Japan.
Éric has a passion for landscapes and, after a long period reporting from Africa, he turned his attention to the cold regions of northern Europe. He then moved on to Spitzbergen and, more recently, Greenland.
Dominique LARREY, Olivier’s father, is a doctor, bibliophile and keen traveller. For 40 years, he has been passionate about the great voyages of exploration around the world.

Exposition

Hostile lands on the edge of the world, the polar regions have long fascinated mankind. Despite the harsh climatic conditions, they were first explored with epic tales, then colonised to extract their natural riches, and finally developed their beauty through tourism. Ice has always represented a challenge for mankind. The challenge has been first to discover them, then to understand them, and finally to preserve them at a time when they are the most exposed to major climate change. This triptych invites you to explore the history of ice and the people who live on it.
