I am Nicolas DAVY and I have been photographing urban wildlife in Paris for many years. I was born in Paris and it was natural for me to shhoot subjects that were the most accessible to me. Today, after almost 15 years, I no longer feel the desire or the need to venture outside the city to photograph nature. Through my work in urban environments, I primarily aim to reconnect Parisians with their surroundings and to show that nature in the city is fascinating and spectacular, without having anything to envy to what one might seek thousand of kilometers away from home.
If we do not protect what is close to us, how can we feel involved in issues that we do not perceive thousands of kilometers away from us?
Exposition
Paris, a concrete city where nature might seem absent? Quite the contrar! Here, there is no shortage of subjects to photograph. I am passionate about these urban species that manage to adapt and live alongside us. Far from being ordinary, these animals are just as wild and spectacular as those found in more exotic regions. Mammals, insects, birds, amphibians… I offer you a personal exploration of Parisian wildlife, to show that nature is everywhere, and you just need to open your eyes. Photography, in an urban environment, differs greatly from what is done in wilder areas, it is not necessarily easier, as it requires constant adaptation to the constraints of the surroundings: passersby, vehicles, artificial scenery…
