Photographs
Alastair was born in Great Britain. His interest in darkroom chemistry led him to become a physical-chemist. After following a Ph.D in France he found real means of expression through art. His international career started with a Creativity Prize awarded for his “original and profound personal scenes, strong and pure aesthetics for telling personal stories”. He has now established a name as an unique artistic figure, juggling between worlds with a freedom for living at the heart of his photographs. The child symbol tells us stories of elusive landscapes, escaping reality with its naïve vision blurred by real adult life through a dramatic emotional tipping point. A far cry from the traditional photographic image, his pictures belong to poetic moments depicting these dramatic changes.
Exposition
We are a fabulist species. We spend our time inventing reality to give it meaning. Then, to share it, we tell ourselves stories.
Today, our story is one of conquest, of aggression against nature, as if we were its masters. It is this story that needs to be changed within ourselves, without expecting anything from outside: ‘we are the ones we have been waiting for’. This other narrative is that of ourselves, ‘alive among the living’. But how can we bring about this change if we ourselves are unable to imagine it? Guiding that imagination, starting that journey… that’s my modest contribution.
