Photographs
Born in 1947, Michel Munier is a naturalist, passionate photographer and environmentalist who spent his life helping to protect the habitat of capercaillies in the Vosges.
Exposition
Michel Munier is a fervent defender of the old forests of the Vosges. In the 1970s, he walked through the Vosges mountains in all weathers and had a decisive encounter with a rare bird, with discreet and mysterious habits: the capercaillie. He dedicated hundreds of days and nights to this bird and the forest he loves. More than 800 nights in a hide, motionless, under the massive branches of an old fir tree… This bird has become “his mentor, his guide to knowledge and his driving force”. In an attempt to save its habitat, Michel still works with Groupe Tétras Vosges and foresters. His new book “L’oiseau-forêt” will be available at the festival, just before its release in bookstores on November 24.
