Marcello PETTINEO, graphic designer. Following a trip to the Central African Republic in 2009, where he discovered the spirit of the great safaris, he decided to pursue a career as a naturalist artist. Nourished by the legacy of his naturalist predecessors, his style is expressed through his studies, which appear like the pages of a gigantic travel journal. His vision invites us to question our relationship with the living.

Jean-Éric FABRE, author-photographer, began his career as a black and white printer and freelance photographer for the daily press. In 1990, he started to travel to Africa and lived there for several years. He learned to observe the environment, thanks to the local populations. He is resolutely committed to producing iconography oriented towards ethnozoology.

Exposition

L’Afrique à fleur de piste. A book by travellers who rubbed their shoulders against the African continent, at some point in their lives. Inside, everything seems coherent, but everything is offset, mixed: the infinitely large with the infinitely small, the insect with the mammal, the popular species with the most unknown, what we consider ugly and what we find beautiful…

La Cétoine More than a museum, it is a cabinet of curiosities located in Aubière, where some of the most beautiful insects in the world are presented. They come from collections of experts in entomology who decided to make them public to raise awareness about the biodiversity treasures that are insects. The 12 plates of naturalistic drawings illustrate the different biotopes where these insects live.
