Rémi FLAMENT is a photographer and surveyor specializing in underground environments. His work explores spaces where no image exists without artificial light, which he uses as a true creative medium. At the intersection of artistic practice and scientific precision, he combines photography with 3D surveying and modeling to reveal textures, measure volumes, and document otherwise inaccessible places. Produced in close collaboration with technical and scientific teams, his images emerge from meticulous preparation and prolonged immersion. His perspective spans multiple scales, from vast subterranean landscapes to the finest mineral details, inviting us to reconsider how we perceive, understand, and preserve the hidden world beneath our feet.

Exposition

Beyond the public galleries, the Aven d’Orgnac conceals a world that almost no one can enter today. As the only cave in France designated a Grand Site de France, this underground sanctuary is protected by strict conservation measures. Access to its deepest chambers is now limited to preserve an exceptional natural heritage.

In January 2026, under the direction of Rémi FLAMENT, more than forty people took part in this mission. Over thirteen days, photography, 3D surveying and artificial light were combined to explore, measure and reveal monumental underground landscapes and millimetre-scale mineral formations. This exhibition offers rare access to a world that remains inaccessible.
