Born in 1959 in Toulon, Claude Gouron discovered the mountain and the extraordinary richness of nature, his lifelong passion, in 1974. He settled professionally as photographer-author in Sisteron in 1985, and finally landed in Barcelonnette in 1991. Passionate about all the pictorial arts, he tried several techniques : painting and sculpture from 1990, digital art from 1995. As a curious photographer, he has travelled to Africa, the Middle East and Europe, especially to the Aeolian Islands he loves. Fascinated by the very large countries, he traveled the USA and India, especially Ladakh. Constantly exploring the mountains of the Southern Alps, in 1998, he created his own workshop in Barcelonnette, in order to permanently display the results of his research. «La nature du Ladakh» is the title of my last photographic work (December 2021). This book highlights the variety of landscapes typical of this region of the Indian Himalayas, and the still very low impact of Ladakhis on their environment. In most photos, the human trace is present but discreet. A path, a man, a construction, give a dimension to these immense wild spaces. The exhibition will consist of about twenty prints in fairly large format (from 30x45 to 50x75cm), framed under glass or laminated on Dibond. These prints will come from this new publication. This exhibition project is new.
