Alongside a diligent practice of naturalistic photography, Gérard BLONDEAU and Sylvie CANCIANI have always sought artistic approaches to nature. The realization of animations within the association CLIMAX on dye plants and pigments, led them to refine their research in these fields where knowledge of nature, photography and artistic creativity mix. Thanks to cyanotype and ecoprint techniques, photographers turn into alchemists for an unexpected result where plants under the action of light and heat reveal their unknown aspects. During an “eye walk”, through their creations, they transport us to their wonderful garden of colorful dreams and invite us to mirages and dreams.

At a time when everything is accelerating, and manufacturers are competing in ingenuity to offer increasingly efficient equipment. It is good to take a long break from the sun’s rays and come back with the cyanotype at the origin of photography to write with light. Beyond the graphic shapes of the leaves illustrated by macrophotography that we have been practicing for a long time, we are looking for other reproduction approaches to dive into the heart of plant structure. We propose a hybrid practice that consists of using an old process and using modern technology to add value to it. The enlargements are printed on bamboo and mulberry Washi paper using pigment inks that offer a long shelf life.
