The Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Continental Environments (LIEC) is part of the CNRS and the University of Lorraine. The primary objective of the LIEC is to understand the functioning of continental ecosystems that have been disturbed by human activity, with the aim of rehabilitating them. In other words, the five research teams at LIEC work on environmental and pollution issues, climate change and biodiversity. LIEC works with the photographer and naturalist Jean-François Cart to help you discover living organisms that are invisible to the naked eye.

Exposition

When we talk about living organisms, we often think of animals and plants that we can observe in nature... But did you know that there are living organisms so small that the human eye is not able to see them? They are called: micro-organisms! Come and observe micro-organisms with the help of magnifying glasses, microscopes and pretty pictures. You will also discover their role in ecosystems and why it is important to preserve them in the same way as "visible organisms", while learning about the scientific approach.
