Photographs
Nature photographer, shaped from childhood by adventure books and by the art passed on by my mother, a painter, I discovered in Southern Africa the impulse that would give meaning to my vision. Trained in the fundamentals of optics at engineering school, I refined a practice inspired by Ansel ADAMS and Nick BRANDT, combining technical precision, emotion, and a commitment to the living world.
Ambassador of the Fédération Photographique de France, I have exhibited in numerous nature festivals and received several international awards, notably at the Memorial Maria Luisa, Xposure, the Sony International Photo Awards, and Glanzlichter.
My latest book, Dans l’ombre des éléphants, has been awarded in Tokyo and Paris. My works are sold in support of the French Association for Friedreich Ataxia.
Exposition
With the series “In the Shadow of Elephants”, the photographic image becomes a hybrid territory, at the borders of photography and digital art. Superimpositions and textural effects distance the elephant from any naturalistic representation. Blur slows the gaze, introduces doubt, and opens up a space of silence and contemplation. The animal, in a dreamlike in-between where forms dissolve and fade away, becomes a trace, a vibration, a memory.
Behind the graphic beauty, a sense of melancholy emerges: that of a slow, almost silent disappearance. By unsettling what we see, what we think we see, and what remains, these images question our relationship with the animal world, its power and its vulnerability, while also emphasizing the urgency of learning to look at it differently.
