Photographs
For over fifteen years now, I’ve spent eight months of the year either lying in the grass or wading through streams. I’ve found the holy graal in photographing backlit subjects with flowing water in the background, where sunlight dances across the surface.
Over time, I’ve grown increasingly fond of incorporating the surrounding vegetation into my compositions—so much so that I now avoid cutting or moving even a single blade of grass.
Fortunately, in close-up and macro photography, even the slightest shift in angle or focus can create a completely different image—a whole new world.
Exposition
To talk about Coeurs de suie, I’ll start by borrowing the words of another photographer (F. C.) about this exhibition:
“Coeurs de suie offers us an unusual take on the poppy, approached through Stendhal’s lens of The Red and the Black.”
As for me, I saw a heart —wounded to the point of bleeding, yet still beating—even in the midst of shadows. To me, it’s an allegory, a botanical echo of the ups and downs of our own lives.
