Photographs
Giandra DE CASTRO is a Franco-Brazilian art photographer specializing in nature photography with renderings that alternate between impressionist, surrealist, or abstract styles, always poetic. Her unaltered photography liberates the dreamlike part trapped in reality by playing with angles, scale changes, interactions between vertical and horizontal, plane confusions, and perspective inversions. The artist disrupts the markers that structure our spatial perception and understanding of reality.
Since 2019, she has participated in over 50 exhibitions, festivals, and contemporary art fairs in more than eight countries. Her work has received several awards and has been included in numerous contemporary art collections, both private and public.
Exposition
The artist has been named, Savoie Mont-Blanc Ambassador, for her long-term work on the Lac Vert de Passy, the temple of reflections, her muse. Her dedication to this lake is absolute, with over 700 hours spent contemplating it at all hours and in all seasons since 2017. The exhibition “(Self-)Portrait of a Lake” showcases the treasures and gems, the ultra-rare results of this unprecedented friendship.
This lake, with its sacred aura, has taught her everything about the nature and essence of water. Her aquatic meditations are now the subject of conferences that are as poetic as they are scientific, notably delivered at the Hydrology Department of the Institute of Environmental Geosciences (CNRS).
In this lake, everything is there from the start, without any photographic tricks.
