Born in 1962, I like to joke that I’ve had three lives : artistic, intellectual and sporting.
Alongside my studies in art and philosophy, which have shaped my way of life, I have never ceased to attach great importance to outdoor activities, particularly as a specialist in sub-glacial caving.
Since 2001, landscape photography has become my main activity. But my regular visits to the mountains do not prevent me from considering myself a man of culture before being a man of nature. Writing and photography guide my steps like two companions freed from each other. Refusing both illustration and commentary, they frequent each other without marrying. Open work !
Exposition
Glaciers, the sentinels of the climate, are melting at a dizzying rate in the Alps, which are warming three times faster than the European average.
Based on the principle that we have to start by loving this world if we are to find the impetus to protect it, I have decided to take up the challenge of a report that I describe as poetic. This requiem for the glaciers is above all an exercise in admiration: by underlining the dignity of what it contemplates, admiration erects a bulwark against predatory exploitation and the distracted consumption that accommodates it. The future – compromised as it is by our ecological crisis and the onslaught of greedy, devastating selfishness – will depend less on our power than on our thoughtfulness.
