Founded on February 10, 1854 and recognized as a public utility since February 26, 1855, the Société Nationale de Protection de la Nature” (SNPN) is the oldest nature conservation association in France. A learned society, its mission has been, from the beginning, the protection of spaces and wildlife, based on ecological and biological scientific foundations as well as conservation (see our actions). This mission finds a concrete application in the field, through in particular the management of two national nature reserves among the most prestigious: the Camargue and Lake Grand-Lieu. It is accompanied by an essential element of information and public awareness, based on the publication of several revues.
