Cécile Terrasse, photographer of life and living things: I divide my time between my work as a professional photographer specializing in reportage and wildlife photography. Birds were my first subjects when I started photography. Today, they are still my favourite subjects.
Exposition
At the end of 2024, I spent several days observing and photographing carmine bee-eaters in Namibia, in the Caprivi region. This colony had around 4,000 breeding pairs.
Being cavity nesters, these bee-eaters dig burrows in the sand to prepare for future nesting. Territorial conflicts often led to highly photogenic fights. Regularly, various predators would attack them, causing sudden mass take-offs.
Through my images, I tried to capture the atmosphere and the extraordinary scenes of observation within this carmine bee-eater colony.
