Stand Up 4 Elephants

The object of SU4E is twofold : On the one hand, the improvement of the living conditions of elephants kept in captivity in Nepal and, on the other hand, the conservation of the Asian elephant in its natural environment.

In this perspective, the actions implemented by the Association during the past financial year have mainly aimed at:

• The maintenance (health, food, environment) of the two elephants, Eva and Lhamo, living in the Sanctuary as well as a punctual assistance, More or less regular as needed, to elephants in distress kept around: Maintenance of the infrastructure of the current Sanctuary, which houses our elephants as well as their mahouts and volunteers
• The commitment and training of competent local staff (mahouts, intendant and responsible for communication)
• Public awareness – tourists and local population, about the situation of captive elephants in Nepal (and more generally in Asia) and the promotion of alternative methods of treatment of these elephants (almost daily visits to the Sanctuary)
• The search for land to acquire/rent that meets the conditions required for the construction of a new sanctuary, sustainable, with a capacity of 15 to 20 elephants; and The collection of funds intended to achieve these various objectives.
