LEÏ was born from the meeting between two young artists, Laurène Barnel and Carine Habauzit. Their paths intersect in AmanEos, a polyphonic band gleaned from the Mediterranean to the Balkans. Both trained at the School of Fine Arts, they cultivate the desire to create plural projects, drawing inspiration from the field of living arts as well as visual arts. At the heart of their aspirations is the desire to reconnect with the conviviality of popular cultures and the wisdom of ancient civilizations. In 2022, they created their first musical show, AMARRE, a polyphonic dialogue that explores a repertoire of traditional songs mixed with original compositions related to the imaginary waters. This year, they are the winners of the creative residency at the Champaubert Church (51) supported by Seine Grands Lacs. These two months of residency are an opportunity to develop their creative projects and carry out cultural actions with various structures in order to share their love of polyphonic singing.

Amarre is a musical show, a polyphonic dialogue that explores a repertoire of traditional songs mixed with original compositions related to the imagination of the waters. Compositions, rhymes and lullabies mingle. It is particularly important for us to highlight and share these songs of women, this secret music where the tenderness and the troubles of mothers are expressed. The songs of our repertoire, especially lullabies and sacred songs, share a common vocation: to take care of each other and oneself at the same time. In Norway, in the Lofoten Islands, the tradition was that a light was always lit in front of the houses to guide the fishermen who came home at night. But these lights also meant that all were welcome in these illuminated houses! Through Amarre, we carry these notions of welcome, conviviality, hospitality. Singing allows us to taste another dimension of time, that which gives us access to an amplified quality of presence, which connects us to ourselves and to what surrounds us.
