I’m living in the Creuse, a rural department not far from the “Plateau des Millevaches”, where nature is everywhere.
I grew up in this rural and agricultural world. With a background in biology and a diploma as a Mountain Leader, nature has always been a part of me, from a very young age. Everything pointed me toward a career in the environmental field — but life and the people I met along the way led me down a very different professional path.
Since then, nature has become the focus of most of my free time — my other office, so to speak.
A nature lover at heart, I started photography at the age of 20 as a way to record my observations.
In 2006, nature photography had become a true means of expression, communication, sharing, and connection.
Exposition
The idea for this exhibition came to me one evening while my daughter was driving during her learner’s permit period. In the glow of the headlights, I spotted several fire salamanders on the road. I urged her to slow down and swerve slightly. She didn’t understand why at first — she had never seen salamanders before — so we stopped to take a closer look.
When we think of road-related wildlife deaths, we usually picture mammals — deer, wild boar, foxes, hedgehogs — maybe some birds, or even insects splattered on our windshields. But we rarely think about all those tiny creatures that go under the wheels unnoticed.
With this exhibition, I want to shed light on some of these amphibians who pay a heavy price just trying to cross our roads.
