Parrains - InvitésKyriakos Kaziras is a professional photographer, French-Greek, living in France. Born in Greece, he was passionate about photography and painting very early, thanks to the influence of his two grandfathers, one painter and the other passionate about photography. On his first trip to Southern Africa, he fell in love with the wilderness, lights and animals. Since then, he has continued to travel the most remote corners of the planet, from the African plains to the polar lands. He considers himself neither an adventurer nor an explorer. All his work is carefully prepared upstream as a story-board. Each of his photographies is a picture playing with shadows and lights. He readily admits to having been enthusiastic about the film Heimat, by Edgar REITZ, each shot of which was composed like a photograph. Also influenced by the painting, especially by the textured blacks, both deep and luminous, of Pierre SOULAGES, Kyriakos KAZIRAS has a very pictorial approach to photography. The cameras are his brushes.
With ARKTOS, Kyriakos KAZIRAS signs a new exhibition and a new art book on the Arctic and polar bears that brings together 93 photos of breathtaking power. The artist uses his sharp eye and maturity to develop an even more pictorial and dreamlike approach to his art. It is also a contribution to everyone’s awareness of the preservation of nature and polar bears, a species threatened in the medium term.
